Aloha,

Grandmaster Maurice Hornos Sr. had a heart attack yesterday and is on life support at Kaiser Medical Center, ICU.  His immediate family can only visit him.  He has been my brother and a part of my family for many years.  If anyone knew him, you know that he is one of most kindness and generous person you can meet.  My prayers go out to his family and hopefully he does not have to suffer anymore.

I am saddened to say, my dear friend, Grandmaster Maurice Hornos Sr. went to meet his maker at 1:30 pm, Hawaii Time.  I want to extend my sincere condolences to his family.  God rest his soul.  In the Kajukenbo community he was the man to see for Kajukenbo belts.  But he was a “Jack of All Trades”, to which he upholstered my personal furniture, made banners for me and other Kajukenbo/Kenpo schools, designed and made martial arts uniforms, and could take a car apart and put back together.  He trained with Professor Chow in the mid 50’s and was a Tang Soo Do Black Belt before joining Kajukenbo.  I had the honor to train his three sons at my school. His creativity blew me away at times while teaching at my school and later his own.  This incredible man will be truly missed by many who knew him.

Sincerely,

Gerry Scott
