My most sincere condolences on the passing of Kajukenbo Founder, Shihan Joseph Holck.

Even though he had not remained in close contact with the KAJUKENBO OHANA after the Black Belt Society went their separate ways he never left martial arts training and his beloved Kodenkan Danzan Ryu. I had the great pleasure of meeting him and talking to him for too short a while in Las Vegas at a Kajukenbo gathering a few years ago. He would have been someone to know for sure.

Kind and generous with his time I will remember him always with respect and admiration.

RIP.

Sad news indeed.  When I see all the judo and jujitsu influence in our art, I have to thank Joe Holck.  I remember in a video interview of him and Sijo in Arizona, how he said "I was the takedown man", when asked what part he had in creating Kajukenbo.
His contributions to our art will be there forever, as will be his memory.  Prayers and condolences go out to his family and friends.

As it happens, I'm starting basic training in the U.S. Air Force in the beginning of December.  A founder of my style and senior officer of my military would be especially appropriate to honor.
