New interview with Sijo Emperado
« on: December 11, 2002, 12:33:53 PM »
;)In this months "Budo International" magazine there is a interview with Sijo Emperado that was done in Spain last year.  Also in the interview are Prof. Gary Forbach, and Prof. Angel Garcia from Spain.  Budo International is the magazine that produced and sells the Kajukenbo video tape with Sijo, and the 2 professors.
Borders Books sells this magazine.

:)   "FYI Angel Garcia has a video series of three tapes out also.  I purchased
them about a year and a half ago.  These tapes features not only Angel
Garcia but also Gary Forbach and some of their respective students
performing or being the Masters' Uki.  Sijo Emperado directs, comments and
explains the techniques as an introduction for each technique or form set
series.  Excellent tapes.  Some of Sijo's comments are just great.  I think
it was Forbach, did a technique that he pounded his Uki through the mat and
Sijo said " That's the way I like to see it !!" After viewing the tapes, two
of my Tracy's Kenpo colleagues said to me, "You guys' are nuts!"  I love
this style.  "

John,

I have the Halbuna and Forbach kajukenbo tapes.
I'll pick up the three Angel Garcia and one Sijo tapes you mentioned.

I would also like to mention George Lim's tapes.
While I haven't gotten around to ordering them,
(YET), I do have a sampler tape.  George Lim
trained with CHA3 Kenpo and Mike Tiwanak.
I attended George's seminar at the Gathering of
the Eagles 2 (Kenpo event) in Las Vegas, 2001.
We compared arts and found many to be identical.
Our arts are grouped in a manner similar to
kajukenbo:  grab defense, single punch defense,
combination punch defense, club defense, knife defense.

Here is Lim's link for videos:

Gerry,

I saw these tapes for sale on this website.
http://www.budoint-video.com/

Click on the Kajukenbo link in the Video Catalog section.

Unfortunately, there are only two tapes available here.

Aloha,

Noel

My favorite part of the Budo tape is when Sijo Emperado demonstrates self defense techiques from his chair.  Though I can't remember who attacked for him, Sijo ran his thumb right into the guys neck.  And in case your wondering, he didn't do it lightly!  How great to see that our founder still passionate about what he does.  If you have the opportunity to purchase the tape, I think you will enjoy it.

I think Sijo's oppontant was Professor Gary Forbach doing the attacking. Professor also showed his love and respect by kissing Sijo on the forehead. It was in a magazine I read.

I just tried to go to the site, and it was closed for 10 days. How can we get all the tapes?
