New Family Tree
« on: February 03, 2011, 04:06:56 AM »
Group,

I understand there is a new Kajukenbo Family Tree for 2010.  I know the supply is limited, but I still plan to try to buy one.  Meanwhile, for research purposes, may I ask a favor from someone who already has a copy?

Will someone please list in order, the first ten (10) First Generation Black Belts under Sifu Al Dacascos, along with their dates of promotion?

I know that might involve a little writing, but it would be a big help to an aspect of Kajukenbo History that I'm working on at the present time, and I sure would appreciate your efforts.

VBR,

Pat

Here is the list I have from 2007, when I was working with Sifu Mike Sandos on this project. I am sure there are some errors in it:

1) Ben Dacascos, 1966
2) Doug Espinda, 1966
3) Ted Sotello, 1966
4) Art Dacascos, 1967
5) Pat Regan, 1967
6) Mike Regan, 1967
7) Malia Bernal, 1968
8) Bill Owens, 1966 (yes, its out of order, just copying here)
9) Eric Lee, 1968
10) Michael Sandos, 1970
11) John Platt, 1970
--stopping at 1970.

Also, please don't shoot the messenger, this is just the file I have.

Thank you very much, Jason and Emil!  :)

Yes: both lists are in error, and I'd like to correct that.

In recent months I've asked my past associates for their assistance, but so far no replies.

Meanwhile, can anyone tell me if the list provided by Jason is the same as what's on the present 2010 Kajukenbo Family Tree; or what's different?

Pat

Thanks for the link, John.

So far, I've sent out information requests to my past associates including Albert and the WHKD administration, without reply.

Actually, I already know the facts; but I'd like this to be a group activity in which each individual has a chance to come forth and verify his own date of promotion.

Pat, without getting into politics, I can say the list I put up came from the WHKD administration, from back in 2007.

Well, don't know why your being shunned by your former instructor and classmates, but you probably won't get the answers your looking for here.  Out of the 10 black belts listed from your era, GM Sotello is the only one who posts on the Cafe.

Sifu Pat, if you're here to correct errors, please let us know what you feel the correct tree should read.

I'm here seeking information in the hope my inquiry will be seen by those who can provide it: specifically, names and dates from the 2010 Kajukenbo Family Tree.  Do you have a copy of that document?

"Shunned"?  I wouldn't say that.  I'm connected with most, in fact.  Still awaiting replies on this particular issue, is all.

"won't get the answers...here"?  Actually, Jason's reply has been of some help, as was your link to the 2005 Tree.  I've had input from some of this forum's senior members on this subject; and tonight this thread generated replies from Kajukenbo people who read this website, but don't post here.  So while I haven't received the exact answer I'm looking for, I remain optimistic.

Returning to topic: Will one of you who has the new 2010 Family Tree please either list those first ten Dacascos Black Belts in this thread, or send those names and dates to me via PM?  Thank you.

VBR,

Pat

I do not have the 2010 version. I was going by your earlier posts where you said,
"Yes: both lists are in error, and I'd like to correct that."

Since you state that very definitely, you are trying to give information, rather than seeking it. Why not just state what it is you think the correct list should be and then we'll see if the newest Tree agrees with your list? I'm not sure why you're holding back telling us what you feel the errors are?
