koscheck vs st pierre
« on: December 12, 2010, 01:59:14 PM »
I am so happy that Koscheck lost.
I hate a big mouth like him.
He is out of AKA in Fresno where we have a couple of schools and there are lots of people that will tell you that he acts just the way you saw him on TV
We have had several people come to us saying that he is an A**Hole
Most people that we talk too say yeah I joined there but those guys are A** holes so I quit going.
They use new students for the fighters to spar with and nothing extra for you if you’re not a fighter
When people walk in they get the stink eye from Koscheck and his fighters.
A few of our guys have gone there to work out and were impressed with the gym but not the staff.
We have had a couple of people that quit there and join one of our schools.
They are much happier with our training and staff.
Congratulations to GSP

He shows no modesty or humility. Without those two traits, there is no honor or respect.
That is why GSP is my favorite mm artist. I like seeing him come out in a gi, representing an actual martial art, wearing a just a bb . "Streetfighter" is NOT a stlye.

GSP has class and the right mix of humility and zeal. He is a great representative of MA.

I agree except for the part about street fighting is not a style.
Kajukenbo is based on street fighting and street fighting is very much a style.
Anyway back on track GSP is a quality representative for martial arts and I am glad he won.
He is a class act on and off the mat.

While I haven't seen the fight, yet, guys like Koscheck are necessary to entertainment and generate buzz about the show.  Admit it.  If there were two rival fighters, both with the reserved demeanor of GSP, would any of their conversation outside of training hold an audience?  Sometimes I wonder if the fighters are truly expressing themselves, if they are egged on by producers or if they are trying too hard (showboating) for the camera.  Personally, I'd prefer to see more of the training sessions, but then, the camera would select for sensationalized training and accidents.

GM Harper, we get the same comment from students that come to Tribull after having tried AKA in San Jose. Many of them said they were used as sparring partners (or "fresh meat," as one guy called it) for the 'real' fighters and didn't feel they got enough instructor attention to improve. My impression from a couple years of hearing this is that the ratio of instructors to students is not high enough.
