Aloha with Gods Blessings!
« on: January 22, 2008, 11:50:59 PM »
Aloha to one and all, I have been away from the Kajukenbo ohana gatherings etc for quite awhile now but I was told of Sijo's bad health as well as brudda Allen Abads & I promised I would make contact with your group immediately!  I have many fond memories of being around all of you and have always said if I were not a Parker Kenpo student as well as GM Tino Tuiolosega's Limalama I would have been a Kajukenbo student.  I was directed by Papa Tino starting in 1998 to pay respect to Sijo for him on his birthday's when he couldnt travel due to his health problems and I did this for 4 years and in that time I was privileged to meet many nice and wonderfu martial artists.  I had many private talks with Sijo and in the beginning he had no idea who I was, lol, but he knew I came in friendship with love/respect from Papa so he accepted me.  As is the custom on his special day I alsways slipped a red envelope into his hand saying, Papa sends his love and on that day as well as everytime I saw him he asked me "hows my brother"?  This type of love and respect cant be phony, so when I would tell Papa what was said he always smiled, a knowing smile that I believe only our seniors really share.

I want to share that I called Sijo today several times with no answer so I spoke with his nurse, she went to check on him and told him he had a call from me, she then put the phone to his ear and I told him that I love him and miss him and that I was sorry for just disappearing over the last few years but I knew he would forgive me as I lost my son on 11/10/05.  I told him of the love Papa has for him as well as my Limalama family.  I told him of the love GM McLeod has for him as well as my Yen Ch'ing Tao family.  I told him I was envious of how much he was loved and respected but I understood it because he is so deserving of the emotions people have for him.  I said goodbye as I didnt want him to hear a grown man cry, because I did, and tough Marine martial artists dont cry do we?  Yes we do when the tears are for real.

Thank you for allowing me to share my feellings and know that while there may be problems in your association you have one of if not THE strongest martial arts groups in the world, do what ever it takes to stay that way, now and always.

Grandmaster

 Hi Grandmaster St Ives,

We met at the Likelike restaurant in Hawaii.  You noticed our t-shirts and came to introduce yourself.  I still have the card that you gave me.
Thanks for showing support for the Kajukenbo family.
God bless you,

Sifu Danny Shioi

GM Joshua, I hope you don't mind me asking, but what was your son's name? Your last name sounds so familiar, and I could have sworn that someone by that name taught some seminars up here in the NE a number of years back. Did he train as well?

Thank you, and again good to have you here.
