I am certainly no video / audio expert. But I have used the Plextor  Converter with good results in converting VHS to DVD or various digital video formats.
No experience in trying to improve the quality during conversion. My trials have been  garbage in  /  garbage out.

Recently I tried using the Nero software that came with my USB DVD Burner.
I’m not all that impressed with it. The editing tools are a bit too simplistic and the
1 pass encoding degrades the quality by leaving artifacts in the video. The 2 pass
encoding is better quality, but it bogs down my computer.

Anyone know of a decent free DVD editor?
