(Master James earned his Black Belt in Kajukembo directly from the Grand Master Emperado)

He looks like he is about 30 to 40 years old.
I am pretty sure Sijo did not promote any black belts  in the last 30 years.
Also his page says Kajuke(M)bo not Kajuke(N)bo.
Sijo is Kajuke(N)bo so if he was promoted by Sijo his certificate should say Kajuke(N)bo

Master Greg James is the head instructor at the Agoge Martial Arts Academy. He is a special forces combat veteran, US Navy, with an honorable discharge. He also specializes in military and law enforcement training, and regularly instructs the Secret Service, FBI, Green Beret, Army, Naval Academy, USMC, SWAT, and many local law enforcement agencies. In addition to these responsibilities, Master James is also an undefeated MMA competitor, and currently competes on the World Brazilian Jiu Jitsu circuit.

That is a very strong background but most of those that I know with that kind of background don't put it out in the public.

The website states he is a 5th Degree in KAJUKEMBO.  The only school using KAJUKEMBO was the late GM Richard Peralta.  In 1999 GM Nahoolewa came out of retirement an form the AKA with his old students and GM Peralta(KSDS) students.  So, who was his instructor? I never heard of that name before.

This page claims:
"Master James holds a 5th Degree Black Belt in Kajukembo Karate under Dr. David Brownridge."

Not directly under Sijo.

Not trying to attack this guy but things seem a little odd.

http://www.agogeomaha.com/our-lineage/kajukembo-lineage/

on this link the last couple of lines says he earned his black belt directly from Grandmaster Emperado.
to me that says that Sijo trained him personaly, I DON'T THINK SO.

Master Greg James earned his black belt in Kajukembo directly from Grand Master Emperado.  He is true to the spirit of Kajukembo that Emperado intended, and he uses his Kajukembo when training military and law enforcement.  For us at the Agoge Martial Arts Academy, our Kajukembo has always been based on real life practicality.

This link says he served in the navy for 14 years and was a decorated combat veteran,
But it also says he was a petty officer 3re class which is an E 4.
Most Navy enlisted men can make E4 or E5 in the first 4 years.

I think this is EXACTLY how things should be handled.
Speak to him FIRST, ask respectfully (everyone deserves that), and see what comes of it.
It is natural that we have questions. Hopefully he can answer them for us.

Agreed.

Every once in a while, somebody with no knowledge or connections or rank in Kajukenbo will claim it.  I guess you could call them impostors.  Usually it's to help in marketing their business.  This probably happens in other arts, too.

On the other hand, people with actual Kajukenbo rank, connections, etc., also have found their names and/or schools in this section and are (fairly or unfairly) viewed as suspect until they prove to be "legitimate".  This could actually hurt business, reputation, etc.

A standard email or letter to the person, respectfully asking them to verify their Kajukenbo affiliation probably isn't too much to ask.  The real impostors likely won't respond.
